Exemption for toll charge

Some vehicles are exempt from payment. Public transport, emergency vehicles and people with reduced mobility are among these.

Ferde operates the toll stations in Southern and Western Norway. This includes the counties of Vestland, Rogaland and Agder. You apply for an exemption from Ferde if you live in this area.

Information about exemptions:

Mobility-impaired drivers
Customers with a parking permit for people with reduced mobility can apply for an exemption from paying tolls. Presupposes AutoPASS agreement with a tag issuer and separate application for exemption to Ferde.

Buses
Buses on a licensed route are entitled to an exemption at all toll stations along the relevant route. Presupposes AutoPASS agreement with a tag issuer and separate application for exemption for bus to Ferde.

Emergency vehicles
Uniformed emergency vehicles and civilian emergency vehicles in service assignments are granted an exemption from toll passings in accordance with guidelines from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.

It is required that the vehicle has emergency status and additional approval according to regulations on the approval and registration of emergency vehicles. For vehicles that do not have the correct additional approval, the Norwegian Road Administration must be contacted. Once the additional approval has been registered, the emergency vehicle will automatically be exempt from paying tolls. Exemptions cannot be granted retroactively.

Motorcycle, moped and ATV:
Vehicles described in the vehicle card as motorcycles, mopeds and ATVs (registered as four-wheeled motorcycles) are exempt from tolls at unmanned toll stations, and do not need an agreement.
Ferries: Note that motorcycles are not exempt from paying tolls on ferries.

Tractor is not exempt from tolls.
ATVs registered as a tractor are also not exempt from tolls.
